‘Tyler Perry’s The Payne’s’ Set To Premiere January 16 On OWN
If you were a huge fan of Tyler Perry’s show ‘House of Payne’, and were mad about the show being cancelled, then rest assured. The Paynes are back! With a twist. Viewers of TBS’ ‘House of Payne’ tuned in every night, not just for laughs but also for it’s over the top, yet relatable characters, Curtis Payne, Ella Payne, Calvin Payne, and Jazmine Payne.
In the series finale we were presented with the divorce of Calvin and his wife Miranda, who told Calvin that she doesn’t love him anymore. This came as a shock to some of us who had witnessed the journey of their relationship and hoped the best for Calvin, especially after watching them face a prior road bump and seeing Calvin get shot in the chest. Yes, there was a lot!
It has been five years since this episode aired on TBS, bringing the television show to an end. While many of us wished our TV screens were still blessed with new episodes of the show, Tyler Perry was working hard to give us just that, or at least something just as good.
Starting January 16, a spin-off series will be coming to the OWN network called, ‘The Paynes’. Not only will this spin-off include Ella and Curtis Payne, but we can expect to see appearances from other favorites such as C.J and Janine, Malik and Jazmine, and Calvin. You can also expect to see new characters played by Sanai Victoria, Jackee Harry, JD McCrary, Stephanie Charles, Markice Moore, and LaVan Davis.
On ‘The Paynes‘ we get a taste of Ella and Curtis enjoying their retirement together until a death in the family shakes them up, and sends them on the way to Florida. When Curtis gets pulled into a real estate deal while there, life begins to take more of an unexpected twist for them. We can only imagine how this will unfold.
Tyler Perry did sign his exclusive deal with Viacom earlier this year, but the deal doesn’t kick off until May 2019. This allows ‘The Paynes’ and Perry’s other shows, ‘The Haves and the Have Nots‘ and ‘If Loving You is Wrong‘ a home on OWN for years to come.
‘The Paynes‘ will premiere with two episodes back to back on Tuesday, January 16, at 10:00 PM and 10:30 PM. On January 20, the show will air again grabbing hold of it’s official time slot, which is set for Saturdays at 9:00 PM on OWN.
