Toni Braxton Gives a Little Advice on Finding Love

Contrary to the title of her forthcoming album, Sex & Cigarettes, as of late, the only thing Toni Braxton seems to be focused on is “love and happiness.”

Last month, the iconic songstress confirmed her engagement to rap mogul Bryan ‘Birdman’ Williams, after nearly seventeen years of friendship. Just in case you didn’t know, the two began dating back in early 2016 and have been going pretty strong ever since.

However, no one knew that those love spells would soon turn into wedding bells, not even Braxton.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the 50-year-old indicated that falling for the Cash Money Records tycoon wasn’t necessarily on the agenda, especially after over a decade of building a platonic bond. But, it actually just kind of happened.

“[Bryan] and I have been friends for a really long time, for like seventeen years, and it just grew from friendship to more than that,” she told the outlet. “So, you gotta keep your friends close. You never know what can happen.”

But, although things sort of took off impromptu between the duo, Braxton is enjoying every moment of it. In fact, she’s already scoping out dresses and cakes for their big day.

“The cake is important… and the dress,” the “Deadwood” singer shared. “I’m particular about the dress; I have to find something that’s appropriate but sexy at the same time.”

While this would be Williams’ first marriage, Braxton was previously married to Mint Condition member Keri Lewis from 2001 to 2013. The divorcees share two children together, 16-year-old Denim and 14-year-old Diezel.

Williams, on the other hand, also has a daughter and a son, Bria and Bryan Jr, from a prior relationship.

Last year, during an episode of Braxton Family Values, Braxton briefly opened up about  being sort of anxious and afraid, at first, when it came to her burgeoning romance with the famed rap star.

“I haven’t been happy in a long time outside of work. Work brings me extreme happiness. When I’m on stage and I’m performing, that’s the only time that I get those butterflies and I feel totally happy with my life,” she admitted. “A romantic relationship? I haven’t had time for that [in the past]. I should say, I chose not to make time for it, but it’s right here in front of my face… happiness.”

Well, it certainly looks like Mrs. Soon-to-Be Williams is happy, and we couldn’t be more happier for her.

Congratulations, Toni!
