After his debut album American Teen was released back in March of 2017, Khalid has definitely had a way of teasing his fans on his sophomore album. After what has seemed like several delays the Khalid Free Spirit album is set to be released on April 5th.
Khalid recently released a new single from the album called “My Bad” giving fans the latest taste of what his newest album will sound like.
Altogether four tracks have already been revealed from the project, including the lead single, “Better”, which also has a music video.
“Talk” was released last month produced by Disclosure.
Both songs have been pretty successful in recent weeks. Khalid became the just artist to ever have the top two spots on the Hot R&B Songs chart with “Better” and “Talk”. Drake and The Weeknd are the only other acts to dominate the top two spots simultaneously.
“Saturday Nights” was also released as a single. A visual for the remix of the track has also been released.
Khalid will also be releasing a short film to coincide with the album. The film is set to be released in select theaters on Wednesday April 3rd, and it will also include an early listen of the album. The film, also titled, Free Spirit is written by Khalid and Emil Nava, who also serves as the films director.
The film synopsis says:
Free Spirit is a short film conceived and created by Khalid and Emil Nava. It’s a direct creative parallel to his new album, using the new music to tell the stories of the beauty and the pain of growing up as Khalid has always done in his work. This film expands on his lyrics and artistry by sharing a visual story as a companion piece.
You can now pre-order the album at freespiritthemovie.net where you can also purchase tickets to the Khalid Free Spirit short film.
Khalid will also be a musical guest on the March 9th episode of ‘Saturday Night Live‘.
