Ice Cube is officially done with the script for the last installment of the Friday franchise, and it’s looking like we may be getting closer to a release date.
During an interview with ESPN’s The Jump, Cube actually hinted that he’s hoping for the final film to hit theaters next year.
“We’re pushing for it. We finished the script. We’re getting notes from the studio, and it’s going back and forth,” he revealed. “We’re gonna get into pre-production and start hiring. It would be nice for this to come out on the twenty-fifth anniversary.”
April 26th made 24 years since the premiere of the 1995 classic, Friday, which brought in over 28 million worldwide.
To the 24 years that have flown since this came out, all I gotta say is… BYE, FELICIA

Written by Ice Cube and DJ Pooh, the original flick starred Cube alongside actor-comedian Chris Tucker. Two sequels followed: Next Friday (2000) and Friday After Next (2002), where Tucker’s character, Smokey, was omitted and Mike Epps came in as Craig’s (Ice Cube) cousin, Day-Day.
Tentatively titled Last Friday, the upcoming project has been in the making for a while now, and fans are ecstatic to finally know the status of it. Currently, it’s unclear as to who the full cast of the new comedy will include; however, we’re hoping that more details will be given soon.
