Critically acclaimed, Jamaican dancehall singer HoodCelebrityy has finally dropped her much anticipated You Know The Vibez EP. The five-track project incorporates things that fans of her have become accustomed to as it pertains to HoodCelebrityy’s sound and that is trap beats and 21st century Hip-Hop. HoodCelebrityy first popped up on the scene in 2015 after mega-star rapper Cardi B, who is a close friend and has collaborated with her, posted on social media about the song “Wine Pon It.” The song went viral and the rest as they say is history. Coming from humble beginnings, she was born in Portmore, Jamaica, but moved along with her family to Bronx, NY, when she was 12.
When she realized later the gift that she had as a rapper, she began capitalizing on the advancement of social media by posting 15 second freestyle videos and later released multiple mixtapes in 2017 including Can’t Believe It’s A Girl and Trap vs Reggae. Arguably HoodCelebrityy’s most popular single to date has been “Walking Trophy” which to date has eclipsed 50 million streams and amassed 33 million views on the music video.
The HoodCelebrityy You Know The Vibez EP presents feel good music all around beginning with the opener “Bad Gyal Ting” to the emotionally charged finale “A Daughter’s Cry.” The lead single “Bum Pon It” hinted at this fiery fusion and immediately attracted widespread praise.
HotNewHipHop declared it “infectious” Upon release, Refinery29 included it among “New Music To Know This Week” and urged, “Let this great Jamaican dancehall from HoodCelebrityy soundtrack your life before you go back to school, renew your fall focus on work, or give your life an overhaul.”
