After a long partnership that dates back to to 2012, Reach Records announced that they were parting ways with producer/artist Gawvi. The news comes after some troubling allegations were made against Gawvi, reportedly accusations that have followed him for at least a year. On social media, many had been pushing for the label to take some action and hold him accountable, even as recently as last week and into the weekend. This most recent news that Reach Records dropped Gawvi from the label may be a start for healing to begin.
Gawvi, whose real name is Gabriel Alberto Azucena, is a Dove award winning songwriter and a Christian artist, who in March of last year released his first Spanish language Christian rap album, Noche Juvenil. Born to an El Salvador father and a Dominican mother, Gawvi worked under Rodney Jerkins and Pharrell early in his career, before branching off and finding success on his own. He produced for Lecrae and Trip Lee, before joining the Reach Records family and becoming their in-house producer. He has also released 7 projects of his own under the label.
Most recently Reach Records announced the We Are UNASHAMED TOUR kicking off March 17th in Austin, TX, which was supposed to feature Gawvi along with other labelmates Andy Mineo, Trip Lee, Tedashii, 1K Phew, and Lecrae among others.
Along with the news that Reach Records drops Gawvi from label, he also has been dropped from the tour.
The Gawvi allegations seem to be from numerous women. Multi-talented artist Cataphant was one of the loudest voices recently taking to twitter to drop a bombshell.
Years ago I made album artwork for @gawvi. For my next project I’m going to make a collage of all the unasked for dick pics he sent to women while he was still married.

Other women commented under the tweet saying that they too had been victims.
…I unfortunately have proof? I fell victim as well??

A subreddit provided a long list of receipts as well.
Gawvi’s ex-wife, Brianna Azucena, who split with Gawvi in 2020 has detailed her own trauma with him in a series of Tik Tok videos. Her account is private, but you can follow her here.
The new buzz surrounding the situation led to the decision from the label. Here’s the full statement from the label in regard to Reach Records dropping Gawvi from the label:
Due to behavior that is inconsistent with our core values, we have ended our professional relationship with GAWVI. This was a tough decision for us because of the level of complexity and because we invest in our artists not just for their talent, but also as brothers and sisters in Christ. This is something we have been processing for over a year and have wrestled with what would be the right way forward. New details that were provided made us realize today’s decision was necessary. We also want our actions to be a reflection of love, care, and concern for those who fail and those who are affected by our failures. Each of us needs God’s grace and we invite you to pray for the families and individuals whose lives are being impacted. This is not a chance to throw anybody away. We continue to hope for restoration to be the outcome. – Reach Records
