Fans of ‘The Wire‘ are going to love this! HBO Max knows what they are doing, recruiting several members of the breakout series’ cast for their new Baltimore set series, ‘We Own This City‘. But that’s not where the similarities end, the series is from the same producers as the ‘The Wire‘ as well. We’ll see if the We Own This City series can find it’s own lane when it premieres on April 25th.
We Own This City is a six-episode limited series based on the book by Baltimore Sun reporter Justin Fenton. The show chronicles the rise and fall of the Baltimore Police Department’s Gun Trace Task Force.
Here’s your first look at the series
The We Own This City limited series stars Jon Bernthal, Wunmi Mosaku, Jamie Hector, McKinley Belcher III, Darrell Britt-Gibson, Josh Charles, Dagmara Domińczyk, Rob Brown, Don Harvey, David Corenswet, Larry Mitchell, Ian Duff, Delaney Williams, and Lucas Van Engen.
Jamie Hector who played Marlo Stanfield, one of the key figures in later seasons of The Wire, plays Sean M. Suiter, a homicide detective tasked with working with the Take Force.
Wunmi Mosaku plays Nicole Steele, an attorney assigned to the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice, which was investigating policing practices in Baltimore prior to the Gun Trace Task Force criminal investigation.
Jon Bernthal plays Sgt. Wayne Jenkins, a corrupt cop, who makes Denzel in Training Day look like a respectable character… well maybe not that far, but you get the point.
