YG talks about Nipsey Hussle’s legacy following the late rapper’s posthumous spot on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

On Monday, August 15, which would’ve been his 37th birthday, the “Double Up” lyricist was honored with a star two minutes away from famed store Amoeba Music on Hollywood BLVD in Los Angeles, California.

The lovely lady in his life, Lauren London, delivered an heartwarming speech for her lost partner.

“Thank you for acknowledging a visionary. I think I speak for the entire city of L.A. when I say that we’ve always known [Nipsey] Hussle was destined for greatness,” she said at the podium in front of those gathered around for the joyous occasion. “This moment only amplifies that for us. Nip would’ve been honored by this moment. I think he would want everyone to remember that you can’t get to what’s possible unless you commit to moving forward.”

During the emotional ceremony, Councilman Marqueece Harris-Dawson also announced that August 15 would now be recognized as Nipsey Hussle Day in the City of Angels.

After the tribute, fellow artist and Nipsey Hussle’s close friend, YG, shared his sentiments, expressing how amazing Hussle’s impact was/is on the culture.

“The homie’s legacy is everything, you know what I’m saying, he expected it to be,” YG told TMZ. “He built his whole brand, his career–everything–he built it right. He built if off real sh*t–off morals, off code, off purpose. So, you know, his legacy is everything he would expect it to be.”

Further into the clip, he stated that he “would do anything to get the homie back” to “keep creating more memories.”

YG and Nipsey Hussle tackled the industry by force together with their long list of collabs. Beyond their hitship, however, the two bonded authentically as not only friends but brothers. But, even in his passing, YG still strives to keep his influence alive.

As you may know, on March 31, 2019, Hussle was gunned down outside of his clothing establishment, Marathon Clothing, in South Los Angeles. Of course, his death not only shook the city but the world.

Although he may have transitioned to the other side, it’s safe to say that… The Marathon Continues.
