Ne-Yo and his estranged wife, Crystal Smith have opted for divorce at court again, and this time, it might be over between them for good. However, according to reports, Ne-Yo has denied estranged wife Crystal Smith alimony and suggests that she “get a job.”

Crystal Smith filed for divorce on the 1st of August where she demanded financial support since they “agreed” she didn’t work during the marriage. Aside from the division of property, she also requested the primary custody of their three children: Shaffer, Roman, and Isabella. This did not seem to sit well with Ne-Yo who during the court appearance on Friday, 9th September, objected to Crystal’s demands.

The American singer has now requested ownership of the Georgia mansion they shared stating in his words that he has “been solely responsible for the mortgage and maintenance of this property since the date of purchase.” According to the legal documents, Ne-Yo also demanded joint legal and physical custody of their children. He stated in his defense that ” he is financially, physically, and emotionally capable of serving as a joint physical custodian of the parties’ three minor children alongside Crystal.”

This case can be traced to less than two months ago after Crystal publicly accused Ne-Yo of being unfaithful on social media. She alleged that the singer had been fathering a child outside the home. “8 years of lies and deception. 8 years of unknowingly sharing my life and husband with numerous women who sell their bodies to him unprotected…every last one of them,” she said.

“For the sake of our children, my family and I will work through our challenges behind closed doors. Personal matters are not meant to be addressed and dissected in public forums. I simply ask that you please respect me and my family’s privacy at this time.” Ne-Yo responded under the post.

This would not be the first split between the two. Ne-Yo and Crystal reportedly had their first separation since their marriage in 2020.
