Shaq Set To Throw Celebrity Filled Virtual Reality NYE Party

Metaverse, VR, AR, etc., are taking the world by storm and soon to be utilized in daily life by pretty much everybody. Don’t believe? Well, NBA 4x champion and Hall-of-famer Shaquille O’Neal certainly does — for Shaq is hosting a virtual reality NYE party on Saturday (Dec 31) called “The Shaq’tacular Spectacular” featuring an all-star lineup of special guests and musical acts. And it promises to be “an epic neon light performance complete with a DJ set from our party’s host,” according to the press release.

Via his Virtual NYE Party, DJ Diesel, aka Shaq, will bring in the new year with performances from celebrity guests such as Cardi B, Ludacris, Killer Mike, Lil Yachty, Whipped Cream, and himself. The former LA Laker also announced additional guest appearances by celeb couple Camille Kostek and Rob Gronkowski, who will join O’Neal onstage while encircled by “a basketball court, roller rink, and mainstage that’s filled with cheerleaders, a marching band, basketball players, pro roller skaters, and fans inside the party,” says the press release.

Shaq‘s NYE Party will premiere exclusively in Virtual Reality on Meta Quest TV, in Meta Horizon Worlds, Messenger’s Watch Together, and on the NBA On TNT co-host’s Instagram and Facebook pages. To attend you must possess a Meta Quest 2 headset, so hopefully, you were on the ‘Nice List’ and Santa brought you one for Christmas. The VR gala commences at 3:30 p.m. PT, when viewers “can kick off the premium immersive VR experience in each time zone with a Meta Quest 2 headset to ring in 2023 – interacting with friends as they play games and dance in their best NYE attire.”

Shaq’s Virtual NYE Party promises to extend more than a conventional special. The press release elaborates, “Dance-offs in the show can be replicated by users on the dance floor in the virtual space. Don’t worry if you’re not able to join right when the party starts, as the show will be on an endless loop all night where you can join in at any time for the start of the celebrations.” Other “bells and whistles,” and assorted blasts of confetti are scheduled as well.
