An inside source has confirmed Jennifer Hudson and Common are officially an item after rumors circulated for months. On Thursday (January 26), it was reported somebody near and dear to the situation verified that “The Light” rapper has been ‘secretly dating’ the Academy Award winning actress. The pair have known each other for some years, however, they became close on the set while filming their latest project “Breathe.” The insider told Radar: “Things took a romantic turn while they were filming in Philadelphia over the summer.
“When the day’s shoot wrapped, they’d always find their way to each other’s side. They’ve kept up their communication since shooting the movie. They get together whenever their schedules allow.” The insider furthered: “Of course, he’s known as a total flirt, but Jennifer feels there’s no harm in that, and she’s having fun.” Scuttlebutt started whirling in 2022 after Jennifer Hudson and Common went on an amatory night out in Philadelphia. Reportedly, an eyewitness claimed throughout the entire dinner the future couple were engaged in “lots of giggling and cuddling” and were very “flirty and cozy.”
Jennifer Hudson spoke about her dinner with Common in September 2022 to ET explaining: “People create their narratives of it, and it’s like, OK, you know, how you feel. We shot a film together, and he played my husband. We gotta eat in between those moments.” Dating rumors bubbled once more after J.Hud and the “Imagine” spitter were seen together after Common picked her up in Burbank when the singer was done taping her talk show. Prior to hopping into his vehicle, the rapper and singer appeared pretty cozy outside in the show’s lot.
Common‘s last relationship was with Tiffany Haddish and the pair split in 2021. “I don’t think the love really dispersed. I just think it was like we weren’t feeding the relationship. Neither one of us is gonna stop. We both care about our crafts and what we do,” said Common about he and Haddish‘s relationship. “We care about love too and partnership, but I think the energy that has been put into our careers and continuing to want to do the things that we do for ourselves and for the people, it was hard for me to balance all of that and keep the relationship fed.” In 2017, Jennifer Hudson called off her engagement to David Otunga and hasn’t publicly dated anyone since then.
