Breaking up with someone via a text message is sort of savage — however, Kanye West‘s attorneys have taken a page out of that same book. The Grammy award winning producer’s lawyers have announced they’ve severed their business relationship with Ye via newspaper ads after not being able to get in touch with him. Apparently, Greenberg Traurig has taken out several advertisements in newspapers based in the Los Angeles area to publicly abdicate their association with the “All Falls Down” rapper, according to reports.

The legal registering reads, “Publication of the Withdrawal Order’s contents in two Los Angeles-area newspapers, where Ye appears to reside, will also apprise him of the Withdrawal Order.” The jural move is depicted as a “multi-pronged approach” intended to “apprise West of the Withdrawal Order” which would close the book on the producer being a client with the law firm. “Given Kanye’s public status, publication of the Withdrawal Order will likely garner significant media attention, resulting in broader publication and provide an even greater likelihood of apprising West of the Order.”

Greenberg Traurig has been unsuccessful thus far in their attempts to contact the “Flashing Lights” singer, which is why they’ve had to resort dropping him as a client through newspaper ads. The prestigious law firm had been representing West in his case against Ultra International Music Publishing where he cited copyright infringement. On November 30, 2022, Judge Analisa Torres granted Greenberg Traurig’s motion to stop repping West, though gave the firm fourteen days to serve the fashion mogul the appropriate court documents.

Thomas St. John, Ye’s business manager, has also had trouble tracking down the rapper since he went off the grid most of 2023. St. John has sued West for breach of contract and is seeking $4.5 million in damages after the “Good Morning” spitter agreed to pay him $300,000 a month to be his business manager and the CMO of Donda back in March 2022. The suit includes missed payments for July, August and September of 2022, in addition to retainers for the unexpended term of the nonremittal agreement, which was set to finalize in November 2023.
