Track and field superstar Sha’Carri Richardson was escorted off an American Airlines flight after getting into a heated quarrel with a flight attendant. Via social media, the hotshot sprinter posted several video clips telling her side of the story of what went down on the plane. On one video, Richardson wrote in the Instagram caption, “Tell me if I’ll be wrong to pursue legal actions against the airline.” From there, she went on to spell out what supposedly happened in the clip.
On her Instagram story, Sha’Carri Richardson shared a post detailing how the attendant on the flight “asked to see that my phones were in airplane mode at this point, which I did in front of him.” The polemic athlete shared an additional post in her stories accusing the American Airlines caretaker of possessing “unprofessional behavior.” A second clip displayed flight attendants informing Richardson she had to leave the plane per the captain’s orders. The Texas native then asked if the captain was cognizant of the entire chain of events. A fellow occupant can be heard expressing their displeasure with the delay caused by the runner’s rebelliousness.
Following her uploads to Instagram, Sha’Carri Richardson was shown support in the comments section by a variety of public figures who felt American Airlines was the party at fault. Odell Beckham Jr., who was removed from an American Airlines flight last year in November, was among the celebs who left a supportive comment for Richardson. The football star wrote, “TELLL ME U GIT KICKED OFFF THE AMERICAN FLIGHT FOR NO REASON.” And he followed up the comment with, “LOLOLOL MANNN LISTEN!”
A spokesperson from American Airlines who provided a statement to NBC News said, “We re-accomodated the customer on a later flight and a member of our team has reached out to learn more.” Whether Sha’Carri Richardson will file a suit against the airline has yet to be determined.
