Until their dramatic breakup in the late ’90s, Tony! Toni! Toné! sold millions of records and produced several successes, such as “Feels Good,” “Anniversary,” and “It Never Rains (In Southern California).”

Saadiq also addressed the reasons for the band’s dissolution while clarifying the rumors that his brother D’wayne stole money from Tony! Toni! Toné! which led to the band’s disintegration.

“It was more an appropriation of funds, if you know what I mean?” Saadiq explained. “Things just weren’t operating right. We were young, we all really didn’t understand everything and he was sort of the leader of the group. We all had the same bank account at one time.”

Alicia Keys invited the members of Tony! Toni! Toné! to be guest musicians on her album The Diary of Alicia Keys in 2003. Saadiq was the only member of the group who did not accept the invitation. That was the last time the crew worked together.
