Are Mary J Blige movies on the way? The answer is… yes!

Two new Lifetime original movies, Mary J Blige’s Real Love and Mary J Blige’s Strength of a Woman, are based on the iconic singer’s greatest songs.

The films will debut on consecutive Saturdays starting on June 10 at 8/7c.

Ajiona Alexus (13 Reasons Why, Empire), Da’Vinchi (Grown-ish, BMF), Princess Davis, Austin Anozie, Shiraine Haas, and Garfield Wilson round out the main characters of the projects. Blige will serve as executive producer.

As 18-year-old Kendra (Alexus) embarks on her first solo journey at an HBCU in North Carolina, the story of Mary J. Blige’s Real Love accompanies her. Kendra is determined to concentrate on her studies while juggling job study and maintaining a professional relationship with Ben (Da’Vinchi), her photo class partner, despite the fact that she is attending on a scholarship. Kendra and Ben discover themselves falling deeply in love with one another and eventually discovering what “real love” really is in spite of their disapproving parents, financial difficulties, and even an unexpected pregnancy.

In Mary J Blige’s Strength of a Woman, which skips past more than 15 years, the story of Kendra and Ben is continued. Kendra, who is now a successful photographer, is in a failing marriage and is forced to face the choices she made to live the life she thought she desired. She is thrust into a situation where she needs to find the strength to take charge of her life and embrace the potential love Ben may be offering once more when he unexpectedly enters her life.

Lifetime and Take Back The Night Foundation, a worldwide event, and non-profit group with the goal of ending all forms of sexual violence, have partnered to support the content.

John Davis and Jordan Davis of Davis Entertainment are the directors and principal producers of both films.

Love You to Death for Lifetime was recently created by Jordan Davis and was based on the life of Gypsy Rose Blanchard. Additionally, he produced the forthcoming science fiction/fantasy movie The Uglies on Netflix, which stars Joey King and Laverne Cox.
