The Weeknd in the Guinness World Records?

This week, the singer not only dominated the 2023 Juno Opening Night Awards, but he also set two new Guinness World Records.

The Weeknd, born Abel Tesfaye, is presently the most celebrated musician on Earth, according to reports. The 33-year-old singer is statistically the most well-known musician in the world, and he now has two new Guinness World Records, which attest to this.

With 111.4 million monthly listeners, he now has the most subscribers on Spotify. He also has 100 million listeners, making him the first artist ever on the platform.

The Weeknd is well ahead of the artists in his realm as far as monthly listeners. There are 82.4 million monthly listeners to Miley Cyrus, 81.6 million to Shakira, 80.6 million to Ariana Grande, 80.2 million to Taylor Swift, and 78.5 million to Rihanna.

In other words, he’s running circles around the opposition.

The Weeknd launched his career in 2009 by posting songs on YouTube under an assumed identity, exhibiting his dark poetry and range in R&B music. His mixtapes House of Balloons, Thursday, and Echoes of Silence were published two years after he co-founded the XO record label.

Four Grammy Awards, twenty-two Juno Awards, twenty Billboard Music Awards, numerous MTV Video Music Awards, six American Music Awards, and a few Academy Award nominations are among his honors.

The Weeknd recently took home four Juno Awards: artist of the year (for the fourth time), songwriter of the year, record-tying third single of the year for “Sacrifice,” and pop album of the year for Dawn Radio.

As of February 2023, “Blinding Lights” from The Weeknd’s fourth album, After Hours, had received over 3.4 billion streams on Spotify. Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You,” which had occupied the top place since September 2017, was dethroned by the song.
