Wait, Rosario Dawson is starring in a Mandalorian spinoff called Ahsoka? Indeed, it’s about to go down.
The first trailer for Ahsoka, which follows Ahsoka Tano, Anakin Skywalker’s cherished padawan, on her most recent journey, has been released by Lucasfilm. Friday’s Star Wars Celebration in London saw the premiere of the trailer.
Rosario Dawson plays Ahsoka, a Jedi exile who served as Anakin’s pupil before the latter joined the dark side and became Darth Vader, in the upcoming Disney+ series. Disney said at the occasion that the show will debut in August.
“I’m blown away! We’ve got some great surprises for all of you, but today is really special because I’m excited to see some footage — finally! I’m like, ‘If it’s not today, when!’” Dawson expressed.
According to Dawson, the show was filmed on The Volume, an immersive LED soundstage.

Dawson went on, “We are completely immersed almost all the time. The level of detail is remarkable. Even the last day, the light sabers turn on and we’re in the world. It’s only been three weeks since my heart stopped racing. I wake up every morning thinking I need to be doing something.”
The primary character of “Rebels” and a Jedi Padawan, Ezra Bridger, will be played by Eman Esfandi alongside Dawson. Ray Stevenson from “Vikings” and Ivanna Sakhno from “Pacific Rim: Uprising” are two additional co-stars.
Dawson discussed how much performing the role means to her in an interview with Variety at the 2022 Star Wars Celebration.
“Embodying a character, literally, physically, every single day, has brought on a whole other level of experience to working on a project, and bringing a character to life. It’s changing me,” said the “He Got Game” actress.
Dawson furthered, “So often, I take pieces from a character, and then I inject so much of myself in to things of my own experience and what I have to draw from. But this is absolutely going in the other direction and she is so influencing me. It’s just been so powerful to be on that journey, to be taken along with it; it’s not something I could have hoped for, or dreamed of, so it’s really out of this world.”
In August, “Ahsoka” will be available on Disney+.
