[FIRST LOOK] ‘The Idol’ New Series on HBO MAX Starring The Weeknd – The Reason Behind Him Losing His Voice
The Idol is a new series that will premiere on HBO Max June 4.
It will be starring Abel Tesfaye, also known as The Weeknd, who recently shared that playing this character made him lose his voice late last year at a concert in Los Angeles.
During the concert, he told the crowd that he didn’t exactly know what happened but he was sorry that he couldn’t perform the way that he intended.
He states to the crowd, ‘This is killing me, I don’t want to stop the show but I can’t give you the concert I want to give you right now.”
He further goes to explain that it was a terrifying experience but he still is unsure how and why it happened.
The Weeknd, along with Sam Levinson and Reza Fahim were the program creators for this film.
Since The Weeknd helped create this show, he continues to speak on the character that he plays within the series.
He mentions that the character that is in the series is unable to sing so he had to pretend as though he was not a great singer which he believes caused his voice to go out during the concert in Los Angeles.
The Idol is a drama series that is focusing on a pop idol and her complex relationship with a self-help coach and cult leader.
The Idol will premiere on HBO Max on June 4, 2023.
