Celebrity Squares, a revived version of the vintage game program Hollywood Squares hosted by actor and comic DC Young Fly, is returning to VH1. The DC Young Fly Celebrity Squares host experience will kick off this October.
According to Deadline, who first reported the news, the new version of the traditional format would focus on Black pop culture trivia and has a new name.
Celebrity Squares, produced by Kevin Hart’s Hartbeat and Jesse Collins Entertainment, takes components from the previous hit show and presents them in a fresh, entertaining way for a modern audience.
Twenty entertaining and zany half-hour episodes of the show will feature a variety of cultural luminaries. Bobby Brown, Babyface, Tiffany Haddish, Kirk Franklin, Taye Diggs, Luenell, Bresha Webb, and many others are scheduled to appear as famous guests.
The program is scheduled to premiere on VH1 on October 17 (Tuesday) at 8/7c.
Hollywood Squares Gets A New Host
Celebrity Squares pairs up two players to play Tic-Tac-Toe while attempting to accrue money and rewards. A opportunity to win a $10,000 cash reward awaits the player who has the most cash in their bank at the end of the game when they advance to the bonus round.
Tiffany Lea Williams (BET’s EVP Unscripted Programming and Development) expressed to Deadline in a statement, “We’re thrilled to announce our partnership with Hartbeat and Jesse Collins Entertainment for this exciting new project.
