The tale of the defunct pop duet Fabrice Morvan and Robert Pilatus is told in a new Milli Vanilli documentary, which is available on Paramount+ starting on Tuesday October 24th. The documentary should not be confused with the Milli Vanilli biopic, which is in the works.

Through recently discovered interviews with Pilatus (who passed away in 1998) and Morvan, as well as music executives, the actual singers on the album, and others, the new movie aims to give an in-depth look at the rise and collapse of the artists from the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Prior to their downfall, the two model-turned-singers enjoyed enormous notoriety and acclaim thanks to the success of their 1989 debut album.

Accordant to a press release, the popular single “Girl You Know It’s True” sold over 30 million copies globally, and the success led to the set becoming platinum six times in the United States. Even more evidence of the duo’s status as one of the most well-liked performers on the planet in 1990 came from their Grammy win for best new artist. That is, until Pilatus and Morvan’s lip-syncing was exposed during a live performance, leading to later discoveries that the two weren’t the album’s actual singers.

Later on, the group’s Grammy award was also revoked.

Spectators can anticipate new perspectives through the Milli Vanilli documentary’s many segments and interviews.
