Brian McKnight has been a hot topic for a while now.  The more we learn about his parenting choices and the decisions he has made in regards to his children, the more fans have concerns.  Some people who have supported the singer for the last few decades have begun to turn their back on him, and even concert ticket sales have tanked for the singer in recent weeks. The R&B singer has many people debating his actions regarding his children from his first marriage, and his own public comments regarding those children.

In a post on IG, McKnight welcomed the birth of his newest edition to the family, a baby boy, with his wife Leilani. In the post he also mentioned his baby boy’s name, Brian Kainoa Makoa Jr. This stirred up social media because McKnight has two oldest boys as well, one of which was Brian McKnight Jr. McKnight even previously recorded songs with those sons.

McKnight also mentioned that his oldest children “came from sin” which left many in a frenzy over the statement. McKnight has never been one to preach before, so speaking on his children seemed like a weird time to start the bible talk.

The comments forced his ex-wife (Julie) and his son Niko to comment themselves and share their side of the story.

Juile went to IG live to speak on the matter at hand and shared that she has evolved from the negative energy regarding her latest husband. Also stating that he is like a child once you are no longer feeding them energy or attention they throw a tantrum. Niko, who is also battling cancer, also had a few words to say. He stated in his IG video that McKnight made him clean out condoms at the age of 15 in the bathroom. He even went to share that he remembers his father forging his children’s names as well.

From being a musical genius that we all knew and loved, to being a person that we want to cancel is a drastic jump for the multi-platinum artist.

A Look Back on McKnight’s Career

In 1992, McKnight’s career took a path that would later make him a brilliant artist. His self-titled album dropped and charted to number 55 in the Billboard 200. After, he then sold over 16 million albums. He’s what many would consider the R&B King during this time due to his wave of music creating love stories for many couples. He was an artist that just didn’t have an amazing voice but he was also able to play the guitar, piano and trumpet. His music was more than a celebration of love but it was the purest music that we heard during his time. Most of his fans emerged from the known hit single “Anytime” but stayed after his album “Back At One” which was a 2x multi-platinum album in 1999.

That wasn’t the only song that created a wave of romantics. His others included, “One Last Cry,” “The Only One for Me,” “Love of My Life” and so many more. He was the man with the sexiest music for love and romance. But it seems as though the man that we all know, sung a different tune in reality.

Brian McKnight Responds to Backlash

After many people responded to the statement of his children “coming from sin”, McKnight decided to finally respond to the backlash that he was facing. He shared a post from his IG of his children and himself recently but it seems as though the picture was an older picture which didn’t make his situation any better. But he stated that he has not abandoned his children, that there is always more to the story.

There hasn’t been any further mention of the situation that has been brewing but we hope that the relationship between him and his children heal. Are you still a Brian McKnight fan? Let us know how you feel about the situation in the comments below.
