Right in time for the summer, Tinashe, born Tinashe Kachingwe has created a hit song worthy of praise. Tinashe’s “Nasty” dropped in April 2024 and hasn’t skipped a beat yet. Over 30 million fans have streamed the viral song, making it one of Tinashe’s biggest viral hits as a solo artist.

How Did The Multi-Hyphenate Tinashe Career Begin?
The 31 year-old has dominated in music in recent years, but her introduction to entertainment actually began as an actress. She is well-known for her appearances in animated television shows and movies, including The Polar Express (2004) where her image was used as the motion-capture model for the little girl in the film.
She also had a reoccurring role in hit television show “Two and a Half Men” for two seasons. That proved to be her last major role, before she took music seriously.
Tinashe Music Career Beginnings
Tinashe first entered the music industry as a member of the girl group, The Stunners, with four other girls. They released an EP back in 2009, after signing a deal with Columbia Records. They moved over to a deal with Universal Republic Records and joined Justin Bieber on his My World Tour, which seemed like a great success for the group.
Still, shortly thereafter the group broke up, which started Tinashe’s solo career. She signed to Roc Nation management and grinding with mixtapes and solo singles and appearances while the industry started to take even more notice. She signed to RCA Records in 2012.
Some of her top songs were “2 On,” “Watch Me Work,” “No Drama,” “Pretend,” and “Player” among others. She released 3 albums while signed to RCA Records, including her debut album in 2014, Aquarius, and 2018’s Joyride.
She went independent in 2019 with the release of the album Songs for You.
Her most recent project is an EP titled, BB/ANG3L, which was released in September 2023.
What songs has Tinashe been featured on?
Tinashe has worked with a lot of well known artists such as ScHoolboy Q, 6LACK, G-Eazy, Jeremih and many more. She has also been featured on hit singles like “Body Language” by Kid Ink and “Slumber Party” with Britney Spears.
In 2023, she trended for comments she made about making music with R. Kelly and Chris Brown, back in 2015, which led to an online back and forth with Brown. The song with Chris, “Player” is still one her biggest hits.
Tinashe “Nasty” Anthem
Tinashe’s viral hit song “Nasty” is the anthem for every woman this summer. Could there be a remix soon? Tinashe expresses how she felt when realizing that her song was viral. “Every woman wants to feel sexy and has a little nasty in them. It’s the summer and people want to be outside,” she told ET.
