Acclaimed singer-songwriter The-Dream accused of sexual assault. He is the latest music industry mainstay to have been hit with a devastating lawsuit accusing him of rape, trafficking, and other harrowing acts. The-Dream sexual assault lawsuit was filed by Chanaaz Mangroe. The lawsuit alleges a pattern of violent abuse, manipulation, and coercion. Mangroe portrayed her ordeal with The-Dream as a “prolonged nightmare.”
Chanaaz Mangroe, who performed as Channii Monroe, was a protégée of The-Dream. Mangroe accuses The-Dream, whose real name is Terius Gesteelde-Diamant (and previously went by Terius Nash), of subjecting her to physical assaults, violent sexual encounters, and psychological torment under the guise of advancing her music career. The suit also accuses him of sex trafficking and of filming a sexual encounter with Mangroe and threatening to show it to others.
Denying the allegations, The-Dream has refuted the claims as “untrue and defamatory.” The-Dream is supported in the lawsuit by attorneys Douglas H. Wigdor and Meredith Firetog. The-Dream and his lawyers supplied this statement to the New York Times: “These claims are untrue and defamatory. I oppose all forms of harassment and have always strived to help people realize their career goals. As someone committed to making a positive impact on my fellow artists and the world at large, I am deeply offended and saddened by these accusations.”
The suit echoes similar accusations in the music industry, spotlighting the abuse of power by influential figures. As the legal battle unfolds, Mangroe’s courageous decision to speak out sheds light on the pervasive issue of abuse and manipulation in the entertainment industry, signaling this continued pivotal moment for accountability and justice.
Renowned for his work with artists like Beyoncé, Rihanna, Jay-Z and many more, The-Dream is a music legend. Just this past weekend he performed at The Roots picnic. He last released a solo project in 2020, titled, SXTP4, the follow-up to his three-part project, Ménage à Trois: Sextape Vol. 1, 2, 3.

The-Dream has been previously involved with a couple women in the industry. He was married to Nivea and to Christina Millian, the latter of which was able to get a large divorce settlement when the couple divorced back in 2010. The-Dream has since remarried, marrying Lalonne Martinez in San Francisco in 2014.
Together they share four children – two sons, Heir and Lord, and two daughters, Maverick and Elysees. Dream also has five children from previous relationships – three with Christina Milian and 2 with Nivea.
