Drake has released several albums that blend inspiration with commercial success, solidifying his status as a revered figure in rap and songwriting.  Ranking the best Drake albums wasn’t the easiest task, but we had to do it.

The 37-year-old Canadian rapper and singer is a prominent figure in today’s music scene, he is recognized for introducing R&B elements into the repertoire of hip-hop artists, shaping the genre’s evolution.

Drake has earned four Grammy Awards out of 47 nominations and holds the record for the most Billboard Music Awards with 29 wins. In 2017, he surpassed Adele’s record for the most wins in a single night at the Billboard Music Awards, taking home 13 awards from 22 nominations. Moreover, he was honored as the Artist of the Decade at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards.

Drake’s discography comprises seven studio albums, three compilation albums, four extended plays, seven mixtapes, 141 singles (81 as a featured artist), five promotional singles, and 84 music videos.

  1. CERTIFIED LOVER BOY

Released on September 3, 2021, by OVO Sound and Republic Records, Certified Lover Boy marks the sixth studio album from Drizzy.

Several stars such as, Lil Baby, Lil Durk, Giveon, Jay-Z, Travis Scott, Future, Young Thug, Yebba, 21 Savage, Project Pat, Tems, Ty Dolla Sign, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, and Kid Cudi appear as guest artists.

The album enjoyed commercial success, debuting atop the Billboard 200 with 613,000 album-equivalent units. It marked Drake’s tenth number-one album in the US and set the record for the largest opening week of 2021 at the time.

Additionally, it shattered records on Apple Music and Spotify, boasting the highest opening-day streams on both platforms.

  1. FOR ALL THE DOGS

For All the Dogs is the eighth studio album by Drake. It was released through OVO Sound and Republic Records on October 6, 2023.

The album includes guest appearances from Teezo Touchdown, 21 Savage, J. Cole, Yeat, SZA, PartyNextDoor, Chief Keef, Bad Bunny, Sexyy Red, and Lil Yachty.

For All the Dogs achieved significant commercial success, entering the top spot on both the Canadian Albums Chart and the US Billboard 200, as well as various other international charts.

The album garnered a remarkable 514 million on-demand streams during its debut week, making it the top-streamed album of 2023 and the fourth highest ever. For All the Dogs Marks Drake’s thirteenth number-one album in the US.

  1. HONESTLY, NEVERMIND

A surprise released, dropped on June 17, 2022, through OVO Sound and Republic Records. Honestly, Nevermind is the seventh studio album from Drake.

Unlike Drake’s other albums, this particular album includes just one featured artist, 21 Savage. Although it includes a variety of producers such as, Gordo and Black Coffee.

Honestly, Nevermind is a dance-oriented album infused with house and Baltimore club influences. It incorporates elements of Jersey club, hard techno, R&B, amapiano, ballroom, and blends them with Drake’s signature style of hip hop.

Honestly, Nevermind made its debut atop the US Billboard 200, accumulating 204,000 album-equivalent units, with 11,000 pure album sales. The tracks from the album collectively garnered 250 million on-demand streams. This achievement marks Drake’s eleventh number-one album in the US.

 

  1. HER LOSS (With 21 Savage)

Her Loss is the first collaborative studio album by  Drake and British-American rapper, 21 Savage.

The album includes only one guest appearance, which is from Travis Scott. It constitutes the third installment of what Drake termed as “a trilogy of albums,” succeeding Certified Lover Boy (2021) and Honestly, Nevermind (2022).

Despite encountering mixed critical reception, Her Loss enjoyed notable commercial success, entering the top position on the Canadian Albums and US Billboard 200 charts, along with other countries.

Many believe this album is where the Drake vs Kendrick Lamar beef began. Her Loss sparked widespread media coverage and controversy.

  1. SCORPION

Scorpion, released on June 29, 2018, by Cash Money Records, Republic Records, and Young Money Entertainment, marks the fifth studio album from Drake.

Scorpion, is a double album comprising 25 tracks. The first disc leans towards hip hop, while the second disc is characterized as R&B and pop. Executive production was handled by Drake, along with his frequent collaborator 40 and manager Oliver El-Khatib.

Scorpion includes guest appearances by Jay-Z and Ty Dolla Sign, along with posthumous appearances from Michael Jackson and Static Major.

Upon its release, Scorpion, shattered Spotify’s one-day global record for album streams, accumulating 132.45 million streams within the first day. This surpassed the previous record set by Post Malone’s Beerbongs & Bentleys by over 50 million plays.

  1. THANK ME LATER

Drake’s debut album, Thank Me Later, was released on June 15, 2010, through Young Money Entertainment, Cash Money Records, and Universal Motown Records.

The album features contributions from Alicia Keys, Timbaland, Swizz Beatz, Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, The-Dream, and Kanye West, among others.

Thank Me Later features a relaxed and atmospheric production, incorporating moody synthesizers, minimal beats, subdued keyboards, minor keys, and understated arrangements.

After much anticipation, Thank Me Later premiered at the top of the Billboard 200, selling 447,000 copies in its first week in the US. By August 2015, it had sold 1.8 million copies in the US. The album also reached number one on the Canadian Albums Chart and received platinum certification in Canada during its debut week.

Released on April 29, 2016, Views is the fourth studio album by Drake, distributed by Cash Money Records, Republic Records, and Young Money Entertainment.

Recording sessions occurred between 2015 and 2016, with Drake and his longtime collaborator and record producer 40 both serving as executive producers for the album.

The album debuted at the top spot on the US Billboard 200, accumulating 1.04 million album-equivalent units in its inaugural week, including 852,000 copies, and achieving a then-record of over 245 million streams. It maintained its position for 13 non-consecutive weeks atop the Billboard 200 and marked Drake’s first number-one album on the UK Albums Chart. Furthermore, all 20 songs from the album made it onto the Billboard Hot 100 chart thus making it to the number 3 spot of our Drake albums ranked list.

  1. NOTHING WAS THE SAME

Nothing Was the Same, Drake’s third studio album debuted on September 24, 2013, via OVO Sound, Young Money Entertainment, Cash Money Records, and Republic Records.

Receiving generally favorable reviews, Nothing Was the Same was acclaimed as one of the top albums of 2013 by various publications. It also achieved commercial success, entering the US Billboard 200 at number one with 658,000 copies sold in its debut week. Within three months of its release, the album ranked as the seventh best-selling album of 2013 in the United States.

The album was nominated for Best Rap Album at the 2014 Grammy Awards.

  1. TAKE CARE

Released on November 15, 2011, Take Care marks the second studio album Drake, distributed by Young Money Entertainment, Cash Money Records, and Republic Records.

Even though it leaked online nine days ahead of its planned release, Take Care made its debut at the top of the Billboard 200, selling 631,000 copies in its initial week. The album has since been certified eight times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

Take Care entered the US Billboard 200 chart at number one, selling 631,000 copies in its opening week, marking Drake’s second number-one album. Additionally, the album topped the Billboard Rap Albums and R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts during its debut week.
