In a shocking twist of events that had everyone concerned, R&B singer Sammie is behind bars following his arrest for family violence, battery, and child cruelty charges, where he allegedly beat his baby mama. Last weekend, Atlanta authorities got involved on suspicion of violence with allegations of assault by the singer.
Why was Sammie arrested?
Sammie legally known as Sammie Lee Bush Jr, was arrested on charges of family violence and child cruelty on October 19 at 11:55 p.m. According to the record of Sammie obtained, the charges against the R&B singer include Cruelty to Children (3rd Degree Witness) and Battery (Family Violence). These charges against Sammie do not mean he beat up a child; instead, they mean children were witnesses while he committed an act of violence (battery or family violence).
Allegations of Family Violence and Child Cruelty Explained
Some reports on social media are claiming that Sammie assaulted the mother of his child and made the child watch the incident. Sammie Lee Bush Jr has a daughter, Journee Leigh Bush, with partner Teanna Reid. But, as of now, the circumstances of the arrest remain unconfirmed.
Sammie was arrested for allegedly beating the mother of his child. The singer has a daughter with his lover and baby mama, Teanna Reid. His daughter, Journee Leigh Bush, might have witnessed this incident, making it an act of family violence.
Additionally, Teanna had spoken out on Instagram, where she shared details of the incident and her current situation as a victim of Sammie’s domestic violence case. It seems their relationship is going through a rocky patch, and a disagreement led to the singer putting his hands on her. While crashing out, Teanna revealed that Sammie public image is different behind closed doors. She also hinted that he had threatened her in the past.
Further, she shared images of her bruised face to validate her claims. There was also a video of the couple on a staircase, showing him throwing a tablet at her that landed on the ground. After reporting the incident to the authorities, she also shared a recording of the police at their premises.
Sammie was arrested and has been held up since then. The case is under the Henry County Police Department in Georgia, and his bond for the two counts was set at $1,050. Sammie is yet to address the allegations or comment on the charges.
Meanwhile his last album was in 2023 when he released an 11-song list without any features called L.A.W. He was scheduled to perform at an ONE music fest prior to his arrest.
