Over the past year, America’s love affair with Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift has grown to it’s highest point. After their engagement everyone has something to say.
Meanwhile, as we wait for the big day, let’s go over the Travis Kelce dating history and his previous love for Black women.
Travis Kelce Dating History
The Travis Kelce dating history was a topic of conversation in some circles in years past, but it really began to be highlighted after he started dating Taylor Swift.
A lot of his former girlfriends (one in particular) pulled the curtain back on what it was like to date him back pre-Swift.
A lot of his history involved women of color.
Maya Benberry
People may not know or remember that Kelce had his own dating show on E! Back in 2016 called ‘Catching Kelce’.
The show was very similar to The Bachelor, where Kelce would choose from 50 bachelorettes vying for his attention. The winner of the one and only season of his show was Maya Benberry from Kentucky who was a marketing consultant.
Despite picking her, Kelce did express his concerns about their relationship to her.
“I love your confidence, but at times it does get overconfident,” he told her. “It kind of shows arrogance. I have been attracted to women like that my entire life, and those relationships didn’t work because of that.”
The relationship lasted a month or two before Kelce moved on to his longest relationship to date. At the time, Benberry hinted at infidelity on Kelce’s part with his next girlfriend.
Kayla Nicole
Kelce’s longest relationship and most public one before Swift was with outspoken Kayla Nicole.
Nicole and Kelce dated on and off for five years starting in 2017.
Kelce admitted to E! that he started following her and then DMing her on social media before she gave in to his charms.
“I was just stalking her and then finally on New Year’s, she gave in,” he told E! “And, you know, New Year new me. She just shot her shot, jumped in my DMs, and the rest is history.”
They were together for three years when they initially broke up amid cheating rumors, which he denied.
When they finally broke up for good two years later, it was reported that it was because Kelce was cheap, a rumor she denied, and he also denied.
He cleared up any speculation about their breakup on The Pivot podcast.
“I would never say that I was supporting her. She had a very financially stable life and what she was doing in her career.”
He then added, “But you’ve got to be crazy if you’d think I would never help or gave her a couple thousand to grab some food or she gave me some money to go get some food… we were in a relationship for five years. A hundred dollars here, a hundred dollars there wasn’t even thought about.”
Since their breakup, Nicole has been harassed and bullied by some Swift fans, better known as Swifies online, because of comments she has made about their relationship.
Nicole felt the need to address the harassment on social media. Neither Kelce nor Swift has addressed the matter.

It was interesting to note that after three public relationships with African-American women, Kelce made a total 180 and started dating one of the biggest celebrities in the world.
Kelce had mentioned he had a crush on Swift and tried to shoot his shot with her but was kinda rebuffed the first time, but the second time was the charm and soon she was seen at Chiefs games cheering on her man. Soon after he went on tour with her.
One thing is certain: his profile has gotten bigger because of her, and now his much-publicized romance is being watched by millions as we await what’s sure to be the biggest celebrity wedding in years.
