#BattleoftheZodiacs: 6 Legendary Rappers Who Are Virgos & Were Made to Steal the Show

Believe it or not… there are so many rappers who are Virgos! Since Virgo season is upon us, we’ve decided to highlight our favorites.

Coming in immediately after the raging Leos (July 23 – August 22), Virgo is the sixth tier of the zodiac, which falls right before Libra (September 23 – October 22). The astrology period runs from August 23 until September 22.

Typically, Virgos are known as the three Ps: perfectionist, practical, and persistent. If this earth sign is in your corner, they’re (more than likely) the responsible, strong, or Mr. or Mrs. Know-It-All friend. However, although their attentiveness to detail can be quite annoying, that’s ultimately what we love about them.

From their undeniable drive to their tell-it-like-it-is approach to nearly any situation in life, Virgos are quite the keepers.

Some would even agree that they’re the most dynamic of them all.

Let’s look at some of our favorite celebrities who happen to be one!

Legendary Rappers Who Are Virgos That You Probably Didn’t Know Were Part of the Zodiac Family

1. Nas

Nas was born in Brooklyn, New York on September 14, 1973. The applauded rapper unleashed his debut album, Illmatic, in 1994. The body of work is often considered one of the greatest hip-hop albums ever.

Nas originally rhymed under Nasty Nas but changed his moniker after releasing his single “Halftime” through Columbia Records. With hits like “It Ain’t Hard to Tell,” “Life’s a B*tch,” and “The World Is Yours,” it wasn’t long before the famed lyricist unlocked a new level of mainstream success.

Some of the 50-year-old’s commercially best solo projects are It Was Written (1996), Nastradamus (1999), Stillmatic (2001), and God’s Son (2002), to name a few.

Born August 27, 1975, in Jacksonville, Florida, Mase is honored as an O.G. in the rap game. Though born in the Sunshine State, the accomplished emcee moved to Harlem, New York around age 5. He signed with Diddy’s infamous imprint Bad Boy Records in 1996.

After appearing on the music mogul’s first single, “Can’t Nobody Hold Me Down,” and “Been Around the World,” along with the Notorious B.I.G.’s chart-topping hit “Mo’ Money, Mo’ Problems,” the now-49-year-old’s debut album, Harlem World, released in 1997.

The full-length went to #1 on the Billboard Hot 200 chart and was ultimately certified platinum. With his projects, Double Up and Welcome Back, and work with many other top-notch artists (such as Mariah Carey, Brian McKnight, G-Unit, etc.), Mase further solidified his status in the industry. One that remains today.

Ludacris entered the world in Champion, Illinois on September 11, 1977. He and his family later relocated to Atlanta, Georgia.

The 46-year-old stepped onto the scene after serving as a DJ intern for Hot 107.9 (formerly Hot 97.5). After being discovered by super producer Timbaland, the two teamed up for the track “Phat Rabbit,” which created quite the buzz.

Ludacris’ debut album, Incognegro, hit the market in 1999, and the rapper-actor soon became a staple in Southern hip-hop. His second project, Back for the First Time (under his label, Disturbing tha Peace, and Def Jam South), spawned the chart-toppers “What’s Your Fantasy” featuring Shawnna and “Southern Hospitality” with Pharrell.

With the uber-success of “Move B*tch” (from Word of Mouf), “Act a Fool” (from the 2 Fast 2 Furious soundtrack and his fourth LP Chicken-n-Beer), and a then-growing acting career as Tej Parker in the Fast & Furious franchise, Ludacris built a million-dollar brand that has sustained its longevity over two decades later.

4. Foxy Brown

Born on September 6, 1978, in Brooklyn, New York, Foxy Brown is the female blueprint for many raptresses today. Her generational influence began in the mid-1990s when she was found by the production team The Trackmasters at a talent show.

Subsequently, she was featured on remixes of LL Cool J’s “I Shot Ya” and Toni Braxton,’s “You’re Makin’ Me High.” She continued making a name for herself on The Nutty Professor soundtrack in 1996 with the song “Touch Me, Tease Me” by Case and “Ain’t No N*gga” by Jay-Z.

Brown signed with Def Jam Records in 1996. Her debut album, Ill Na Na, followed, including singles “Get Me Home” featuring Blackstreet and “I’ll Be” featuring Jay-Z. It eventually went platinum. The 45-year-old’s albums Chyna Doll (1999) and Broken Silence (2001) would only heighten her popularity, stamping her position as one of the greatest female emcees to date.

5. Big Daddy Kane

Big Daddy Kane was born in Brooklyn New York on September 10, 1968. The 55-year-old is celebrated as a key member of the renowned collective Juice Crew, which contained artists Biz Markie, Roxanne Shante, and Kool G Rap, among others.

With his unique, fast-rhyming style, Kane quickly became a trend-setting master of the art. His first album, Long Live the Kane, debuted in 1988 and is known for the phenomenon “Ain’t No Half Steppin’.” In 1989, Kane’s second full-length, It’s a Big Daddy Thing, graced the music scene, with lead single “Smooth Operator.”

By the time the 1990s rolled around, Kane was making major moves, as he appeared on Patti LaBelle’s 1991 classic “Burnin'” and received a Grammy Award for his contribution to Quincy Jones’ “Back on the Block.”

Throughout the 2000s, he has only continued to build his legacy, paving the way for many of his successors.

6. Eazy-E

Our list of rappers who are Virgos just got even better. The late Eazy-E was born in Compton, California on September 7, 1964. Respected as the “Godfather of Gangsta Rap,” E brought a new meaning to West Coast hip-hop through his group, N.W.A. (comprised of E, Arabian Prince, Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, DJ Yella, and MC Ren), and label, Ruthless Records.

His debut album, Eazy-Duz-It, dominated the shelves in 1988 and went double platinum. The project followed his prized work with N.W.A., Straight Outta Compton, which was released the same year and is now triple platinum. The now-Grammy Hall of Famer’s track “F*ck tha Police” became a nationwide anthem upon its premiere.

The exalted wordsmith made history N.W.A. but was also a force on his own. Even after his death, E’s impact still stands relevant.
