Amidst the unfolding drama of the year’s first quarter, Chance the Rapper’s recent announcement of his divorce from wife Kirsten Corley raises eyebrows, prompting questions about potential divorce signs despite his public persona as a dedicated family man.

The rapper and his wife first crossed paths as childhood friends, but Chance harbored a significant crush on her from an early age. According to E!, Chance described it as love at first sight, considering her “the prettiest girl I ever seen” when they were just nine years old.

Eventually, the couple tied the knot at a beach resort less than a year after getting engaged, and they already had their first child, Kensil, by that time.

Signs Fans Missed on Chance the rapper and Kristen Corley’s divorce

  1. Chance Stopped Posting His Family

Despite being known for showcasing his family on social media, Chance the Rapper recently surprised fans by not sharing a picture of his family, particularly during his youngest daughter Marli’s fourth birthday celebration late last year.

While Chance and his wife, Kirsten Corley, spent the day together to mark the occasion, only his wife posted about it, raising eyebrows among fans.

In the past, Chance has openly displayed affection for his family on Instagram, such as taking Kirsten on a skate date in 2020 and posted a photo of them kissing with the caption, “My wife took me on a surprise day date to the Rink…so nostalgic.”

He also shared moments with their daughter, Kensli and Kristen, “No matter what we are, we’re always family,” the rapper captioned.

Therefore, the absence of a family photo this time around came as a surprise to many, given his evident adoration for his baby girl Marli.

2. Chance seen dancing “inappropriately” with other women.

In the middle of last year, the rapper sparked controversy when he was spotted dancing “inappropriately” with a woman in public. Celebrating his 30th birthday in Jamaica at a Caribbean Carnival, Chance was captured on camera engaging in provocative dancing with a woman, igniting debates about marital boundaries versus cultural norms.
Adding fuel to the fire, another incident emerged involving the rapper dancing with model Mela Millz, who posted a video on Instagram of them engaging in suggestive dancing, prompting further scrutiny.
In response, his wife, Kristen, shared poignant words from Maya Angelou’s essay “Home,” reflecting on maturity and the challenges of truly growing up. She posted,
“Most people don’t grow up. It’s too damn difficult. What happens is most people get older. That’s the truth of it. “They honor their credit cards, they find parking spaces, they have the nerve to have children, but they don’t grow up. Not really. They get older.”
