Lil Wayne Nightline Interview Draws Ire Of Fans, Black Lives Matter Supporters

We’ve all been worrying about Lil Wayne for a while now. After his dark tweets, which aroused rumors of retirement and even suicide, fans and celebrities all over the world made sure Wayne knew he is loved and would be missed.  However, things are expected to take a turn after a snippet of the Lil Wayne Nightline interview was released late last night.

Not sure why he was being interviewed in the first place considering he has no music coming out and hasn’t been in the news but for controversy and law suits with Birdman all year, but guess that’s neither here nor there now.

During the Lil Wayne Nightline interview he was asked about the Black Lives Matter movement, to which he seemed to have absolutely no recollection of at first, even stating “What is it? What do you mean?”  After the interviewer briefly explained the concept to him, he went on to say that he has no connection to the movement by saying, “I don’t feel connected to a damn thing that ain’t got nothing to do with me.”

Wayne continued to dig a whole by himself when he revealed that to him, the shooting of unarmed Black men in America is something that happens everyday and it has nothing to do with race. He comments that its obvious that Black lives matter since there are so many of them with wealth by saying, “I am a young, Black, rich motherfucker. If that don’t let you know that America understand Black motherfuckers matter these days, I don’t know what it is,” and even making a joke by saying, “My life matter, especially to my bitches.”

The rapper has a history of not seeing race as a factor in the many incidents of police brutality in today’s society. In a previous interview with Fox Sports, Undisputed series, he even commented that “there is not such thing as racism,” since he has never experienced it.

Back in august, he was recorded shouting Black Lives Matter  into his microphone at a concert, but seems that was just for show.

It’s clear that Wayne is keeping us all on our toes with many questions: what’s going on with him? Is he on something? And what is he TRULY thinking?

Lil Wayne’s words were insensitive but I ask rhetorically. What’ve U done for the Black Lives Matter Movement? Now what makes U any better?

Every rapper ain’t a political figure… What on earth made y’all think Lil Wayne has any type of political stance ? Lol
