Big Snoop Dogg just dropped a teaser that has fans biting their nails on their edges of their seats. On Tuesday (Feb. 7), the “2 Of Amerikaz Most Wanted” rapper hopped on Instagram to post a classic image of himself and Dr. Dre, while verifying the pair have new music scheduled to hit the streets this upcoming summer. Uncle Snoop wrote, “Dynamic. Duo. Music comin summer 23.”
In September 2022, Snoop Dogg revealed on the “Know Mercy” podcast that he and Dr. Dre were working on the “spiritual successor” of “Doggystyle” (his 1993 debut album) and they’re calling it “Missionary.” The Long Beach native said the project would be finished around November 2022, however, the duo evidently are taking a little more time to mastermind the artwork. At the time, Snoop spoke to Stephen A. Smith: “I’ma tell you this, you’re the first one to hear this: me and Dr. Dre have been working on an album for the past two months. And it’ll be done in November. It’s produced by Dr. Dre, it’s our 30th anniversary to ‘Doggystyle.’ And the name of the album is ‘Missionary.’”

“Missionary” is anticipated to be released via Snoop Dogg‘s imprint, Death Row Records, after the “Gang Signs” hit maker procured the historic hip hop label in 2022. As far as “Doggystyle” goes, Dr. Dre produced the entire project which included radio smashes like “Who Am I (What’s My Name?)” and “Gin and Juice.” The joint album derived after The Doggfather scorched the mic on several songs on Dre‘s pioneering debut L.P. “The Chronic” (1992), including the smash record “Nuthin’ but a ‘G’ Thang.”
Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre haven’t hid the fact they are cooking up something musically, with the two being seen in the studio last year with Diddy and with Eminem. In August 2022, Snoop disclosed: “[Dre and I] are cooking up a little something. I don’t wanna talk about it too much, but we’re back together again. It’s been 30 years since we worked on a record, and we’re doin’ something, we’re workin’ on something.”
