“Summertime” will most likely not change anyone’s preconceived notions about Kreayshawn’s talents on the mic; she remains a love her or hate her kind of artist. But the infectious beat and some decent bars from a  vastly improved V-Nasty–perhaps Gucci gave her some pointers–makes the cut worth a listen even for those who do not enjoy Miss Zolot.

The polarizing Oakland emcee’s first studio album, Somethin’ Bout Kreay, drops August 14.
