“It’s time to get paid” is the motto for many poker players that enter the World Series of Poker Main Event.  Since the poker boom in 2003, poker players from all walks of life, including rap, have taken their shot at Million and the coveted World Series gold championship bracelet.  Here are a few rap stars you can expect to take their shot at the WSOP title this year.

Nelly
The superstar of Rap and Hip-Hop has been trying to add some WSOP bling to his collection over the last couple of years.  He has made headlines over the last few years by putting up $10k large and trying his luck against poker’s elite.  In 2010, he shocked everyone by making Day 2 of the event.  You have to survive thousands of players just to make it that far, so that was no small accomplishment.  While he has yet to make any money in the Main Event, the right run at the right time could put him in contention.

Kool Shen
If you are in the United State, you may not have heard of Kool Shen.  However, those of you overseas know that Kool Shen is one of the founding fathers of Rap in France and have been following him since he was in Supreme NTM.

Over the last few years, Kool Shen has been playing poker and to say this boy is getting paid is an understatement.  He has won close to $700,000 large playing in big poker events and just won $135,000 in an event last month.  You can keep up with the latest WSOP news on PokerListings.com and with any luck you might see Nelly or Kool Shen up atop of the leader board.

Kool Shen has been at the WSOP the last couple of years and finished in the money in two preliminary events prior to the Main Event.  If you were to put money on any rapper making it deep in the Main Event this year, this is your man.

Nelly and Kool Shen are setting out this year that they are more than Rap stars and can hang with the big boys of the poker world.
