What do you get when bringing together all of the best pieces of the Dave Chappelle Show, Def Comedy Jam and Showtime at the Apollo? Add live music from up-and coming performers, and you have Hood Comedy Jam: Standup Comedy in the Hood. This show will be provocative from its witty sketches to behind the scenes interviews with the performers.
Rip Micheals (known from Nick Cannon’s Wild ‘N Out and According to Him + Her on BET and Centric) will host the event, which is presented by Sum-Geta-Lil Entertainment and Hood Royalty Management. The event is sponsored by Snkrbst, and will feature music from DJ Envy from Power 105.1 The Breakfast Club.
The host, Rip Micheals, is set to be featured on such shows as Power (Starz), Black-ish (ABC), Nurse Jackie (Showtime), Real Husbands of Hollywood (BET), Mr. Robinson (new show on NBC starring Craig Robinson and Brandon T. Jackson). On Christmas Eve a 30-minute Wild ‘N Out special featuring his best moments from Wild ‘N Out as well as his original standup will air on MTV2.
Four episodes of Hood Comedy Jam will be filmed for a major television network before live audience on Saturday December 13, 2014 at one of New York’s premiere event venues, NYC Arena in Queens.
Tickets prices will range from $25-$60, and are available on Eventbrite. Each ticket includes viewing of the live television filming of all four episodes of Hood Comedy Jam and admission to the after party (at the same venue).
