Issa Rae & Jussie Smollett’s New Web Series, Giants, Launching Late January
What happens when an Insecure and an Empire star team up? Apparently, you get a new web series. We’re not joking either. Issa Rae and Jussie Smollett have joined forces to deliver us a new web series, called Giants. The series, produced by Issa’s production company, will be hitting YouTube on January 25th at 8:00 p.m. EST. Are you ready? We certainly are.
After successfully taking off with her very own YouTube web series, Awkward Black Girl, Issa Rae took her talents to TV. She created, co-wrote, and starred in the famed HBO series, Insecure. The thirty-minute comedic series is a loosely based version of Awkward Black Girl. It captures the story of two black women, navigating their way through the acclaimed city of Los Angeles. With instant success, Insecure‘s ratings skyrocketed, renewing the show for a second season.
Now, the 32-year-old has linked with talented actor and singer Jussie Smollett to executive produce another attention-catching series. Giants will ‘explore the social issues that are either ignored or stigmatized by the black community’. The series will also give us an in-depth, brain stimulating look at the unspoken truths and struggles within today’s millennial generation.
