Donald Glover To Star In Live Action Lion King Remake
Things just continue to look up for Childish Gambino, aka Donald Glover. Not only has Donald Glover been cast as Lando Calrissian in the Untitled Han Solo Star Wars Anthology Film, Glover is now heading the cast of The Lion King remake.
The rising star saw some spectacular success for his FX series Atlanta, which won him a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy. The show itself ended up winning Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy. But it could be awhile before we see its second season, for a couple of reasons.

Donald Glover has been cast as the voice of Simba in the live-action remake of Lion King, which will be directed by Jon Favreau. If it’s going to be anything like his Jungle Book remake, it should be pretty epic. No word yet on whether he’ll be voicing the adult or child version of Simba, or both. But that isn’t all. As if that wasn’t already enough, Favreau also tapped legendary actor James Earl Jones to return to voice Mufasa. Favreau announced the news on Twitter.

So far, these seem to be the only two casting announcements for the live-action Lion King remake. There’s also no set release date as of right now, and we don’t know when they will officially be starting production. So hopefully we can get that second season of Atlanta before they begin filming. In addition, Favreau will also have the sequel to Jungle Book to worry about.
