Nas and Nicki Minaj Dating Rumors Were Fueled By A Recent Post By The Rappers
Social media was sent into a frenzy when a photo emerged of rapper Nicki Minaj snuggled up to Nas at Nas’ Los Angeles eatery, Sweet Chick. Social media quickly assumed that rumors that Nas and Nicki Minaj dating were true.
The photo, posted on Minaj’s Instagram profile and later by Nas, showed both platinum MCs sharing what is believed to be a tender moment at dinner. The photo in question donned the caption, “Only KINGS recognize QUEENS”. The caption also featured Minaj speaking highly of the food at the restaurant. The photo also featured the “If I Ruled the World” rapper embracing Minaj tenderly,as she leaned back into a partial embrace with her eyes closed. The photo sparked plenty of social media speculation.
Nas & Nika were celebrating the Los Angeles opening of Nas’ restaurant Sweet Chick. The Los Angeles location marks the beginning of a West Coast expansion of the franchise spearheaded by the restaurateur and rapper. While social media is quick to ‘ship’ any two people standing too close, the photo is not enough concrete evidence to place the two in a relationship. The pair were dining with another friend, Statik Selekt, while celebrating Nas’ Emmy win for Netflix series The Get Down.
This, however, isn’t the first time that we’ve seen the two in an intimate position. Nas appeared as Minaj’s love interest in the music video for her single “Right By My Side.” Nas and Nicki Minaj dating rumors ran rampant back then as well, though she was dating Safaree at the time.
Although the IG caption does not provide enough evidence that the two New York MCs are a couple, fans have taken to social media to show both their satisfaction and dissatisfaction. Carmen Bryan, who is the mother of Nas` daughter, responded to potential rumors via Instagram by shading the rapper. “I’m relieved! I didn’t think my baby father still dated women,” she responded. Fans assumed that she was taking shots at the rapper’s sexuality, but she later clarified her statements, stating that she meant that she is use to him dating younger girls.
While there is no definite proof beyond the photo, social media has already armed themselves with memes and hashtags to commemorate the potential pairing. The hashtags #NickNas and #Nasika began to circulate on Twitter only hours after Minaj posted the photo. Minaj has since taken to Twitter to brush off the rumors, stating that the pairing are working on new music, set to be released this year.
