Over Fifteen Years Later, The Xscape Reunion Performance Is About To Happen

R&B girl group Xscape blew up the charts when they broke out in the early nineties, dropping hit songs, like, “Just Kickin’ It”, “Understanding”, and “My Little Secret”. The Atlanta-based group instantly attained worldwide success, making them one of the top girl groups of the nineties era. With their out of this world vocal range, versatile sound, and unique sense of style and creativity, it wasn’t long before Xscape became a household name. A household name that still holds prevalence, even to this day. Though the original group departed after their third studio album, in 1998, and went on to do solo projects, Xscape is officially back to give us what we’ve all been waiting for, a REUNION! The first Xscape reunion performance will happen at this year’s Essence Festival.

After a failed brief attempt at bringing the group back together, with new member Kiesha Miles replacing Kandi, in 2005, Xscape has now decided that, twelve years later, it is long overdue. Earlier this year, the members–which includes all four originals: Latocha Scott, Tamika Scott, Tameka ‘Tiny’ Cottle-Harris, and Kandi Burruss-Tucker, announced that they were getting back together, working on an album and a tour. There has also been word that they are working on a biopic film as well.

Now, the group is gearing up for their first full group performance in over fifteen years! The R&B quartet will reunite on stage at this year’s Essence Festival in New Orleans, Louisiana, slated to take place on July 2nd.

“We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate the return of Xscape than in New Orleans with our fans at the world famous, Essence Festival.” The group explained in a statement.

Xscape fans, get ready because the girls are back. Operation takeover is just beginning!
