International singer and songwriter, Sam Smith, has released his highly anticipated sophomore album titled, The Thrill of It All. This is Smith’s first full album since the critically acclaimed 2014 debut album, In the Lonely Hour, which sold over 24 million copies worldwide and has won many awards.
The Thrill of It All was released through Capitol Records and the standard version is 10 tracks long. The special edition is set to be four tracks longer while the Target exclusive will feature another two bonus tracks.
Earlier in September, Smith released the lead single “Too Good at Goodbyes” from the album. The visual for “Too Good at Goodbyes” already has over 193 million views on YouTube since it was released in September.
Smith followed that up with the release of the gospel inspired single “Pray” where he teamed up with producer Timbaland. Over the Timbaland produced track the singer sings, “I’m not a saint, I’m more of a sinner/ I don’t wanna lose, but I fear for the winners/ When I try to explain, the words run away/ That’s why I am stood here today.”
With the release of this album came a documentary short from Apple Music, On The Record: Sam Smith – The Thrill Of It All. The documentary will give you interviews from Sam Smith and associates, and never before seen footage of Smith reflecting on his success off his debut album. When speaking on the album in the new documentary he said, “I wasn’t trying to make a big pop record when I made this album. I was actually just trying to make something personal and like a diary.” The short will show you the singer’s female alter-ego who he calls “Karamel.”
Smith has announced a world tour in support of The Thrill of it All. For the tour Smith will take date in Europe, UK, as well as North America.
