Toni Braxton Clears Up ‘Engagement Ring’ Rumors, Talks Lifetime Movie Role & More
Toni Braxton is set to star in the new Lifetime movie, Faith Under Fire: The Antoinette Tuff Story this Saturday, January 27th. Additionally, her buzzing single, “Deadwood” is the lead track for the forthcoming album Sex & Cigarettes.
Toni Braxton joined host Saeed Jones of BuzzFeed News’ AM TO DM to talk about both projects and what it was like working on the movie and the upcoming new album. Catch some of the highlights below:
On Faith Under Fire
“[It was] quite emotional and it’s a true story. When I think about this woman and what she was able to do…You know it was a purpose and it was her bravery, her courage and her faith in God that allowed her to talk this gunman out of this tragedy that could have happened.”
“When I received the script I read it and I loved it. I had been kind of following the story…I said I have to have it. I have to be a part of this.”
“This is the first album where I predominantly produced the entire album. [Babyface] has been pushing me to be more independent and be more than just an artist…Production hasn’t been what I’ve done out loud and so he wants me to get out there and start producing other artists.”
“The new album is entitled Sex and Cigarettes, even though I don’t smoke cigarettes, but I smoke cigars…It’s smoky, sexy. A little of adult issues talking about what happens in the bedroom.”
