Drake put the strippers and Instagram models to the side and spent his money on the people. In a new visual for “God’s Plan,” off his Scary Hours EP, the rapper gave away close to a million dollars in charitable gestures. The philanthropic act showed that he was more Rockefeller than Jay-Z.
Drake has called the “God’s Plan” video “The most important thing he has ever done in my career.”
The video is a touching six-minutes with the setting being the Miami area. People of various ages and background are seen in this visual as they are being blessed by the 6 God. The video was directed by Karena Evens and Director X. The creative heads behind the video let it be known in the start where the money Drake gave away came from, “The budget for this video was $996,631.90. We gave it all away.” A cameo from NFL superstar Antonio Brown showed the Drake and him dancing around an empty clothing store.
While shooting the video Champagne Papi paid for people’s groceries, gave a University of Miami college student $50,000, donated $25,000 to Miami Senior High School, donated $50,000 to the Lotus House Women’s Shelter and gifted a van to the Overtown Youth Center. That is just to name a few acts of kindness from Drake.
