Netflix has revealed the official trailer for the upcoming film, Roxanne Roxanne. The movie spotlights Hip-Hop pioneer and one of the founding females of Hip-Hop, Lolita “Roxanne Shanté” Gooden.
The film originally premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, even landing the film’s star, Chanté Adams, who plays Roxanne, the Special Jury Award for Breakthrough Performance. Roxanne Roxanne also stars Nia Long and Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali among others.

Movie Synopsis
In the early 1980s, the most feared battle MC in Queens, New York, was a fierce teenage girl with the weight of the world on her shoulders. At the age of 14, Lolita “Roxanne Shanté” Gooden was well on her way to becoming a hip-hop legend as she hustled to provide for her family while defending herself from the dangers of the streets of the Queensbridge Projects in NYC.
Premieres Globally on Netflix on March 23, 2018.
