Whitney Houston’s Mother, Cissy Houston, Said to Be Suffering from Dementia
The Houston family just can’t catch a break. After the tragic losses of Whitney and her daughter, Bobbi Kristina, the agony continues. During a recent exclusive with Radar Online, a close source told the gossip blog that Cissy Houston, mother of the legendary songstress, is currently battling with a case of dementia.
“She’s in the early stages of dementia,” the person revealed. “She repeats herself a lot and doesn’t remember what she says.”
But, although the symptoms have been noticeable to those around her, the 84-year-old is seemingly in denial of the decline in her health and assures that “she’s just getting old.”
As a result, the family is starting to grow even more concerned, as they fear that the stress from recent sexual abuse claims made by her son, Gary Garland-Houston, will worsen her condition.
“The family is already fractured enough,” said the source. “But she has had enough clarity to know what’s going on with these claims and is very upset.”
Accusations of Whitney and her brother, Gary, being molested by their late, older cousin, prominent singer and niece of Cissy, Dee Dee Warwick, began to swirl after the premiere of the new Whitney documentary that was unleashed at the Cannes Film Festival back in May.
In another interview, Gary stated that the abuse started around eight or nine years old, but Cissy and Dionne Warwick–Dee Dee’s sister, but Cissy and Dionne detailed in a statement that they had never heard such allegations and “the idea that [Dee Dee] would have molested [Cissy’s] children is overwhelming and, for [them], unfathomable.”
“Dee Dee may have had her personal challenges but the idea that she would have molested my children is overwhelming and for us unfathomable,” Cissy expressed to PEOPLE. “Neither I, Dionne, nor my son, Michael, who was very close to his sister, and in the film is VERY candid about their drug use, has ever heard these allegations; we have never heard anything remotely connected to the crimes charged against Dee Dee in the film. How can that be fair to my daughter, to Dee Dee, or to our family?”
Earlier this week, it was also reported that the family believes the accusations to be false and just a publicity stunt to draw more attention to the film. But… that’s not all. According to a friend of the Houstons, Cissy told Gary that she was even going to cut him out of her will.
We’re not sure what that status of that is yet, but we’re hoping that the family can make peace.
