“Look, I know that girls love Beyoncé, girls love to f**k with your conscious…” Thanks Drake for the inspo. But can we talk? Seriously, SIS, can we talk? (The term being used in a general “all y’all”, type of way). Can we do like a self-care, achieve our true potential sesh?

I look around at all of these singers, actors, dancers, and all-around business minded people making major moves and snatching up every bag and every wig, in the most unapologetic of ways. AND I LOVE IT!!!

This time it’s the queen herself, ‘Yoncé’ bossing up on us. Her brand, Ivy Park, was originally released spring 2016.  At the time Bey and Sir Philip Green of the British distributor Topshop launched the fashionable athleisure brand in a partnership that was destined for greatness.  It came with fits that proved to be inclusive and fashionable for a brand expansion beyond the music. Like I said, destined for greatness—or so we thought.

Guess what??? Bey doesn’t need a partner. More specifically, she doesn’t need a bully who commits acts of sexual and racial harassment, cloaked as a businessman. Reports from The Daily Telegraph, a British newspaper, reported that an unnamed individual had been involved in several ‘hushed payments’ (an estimated $640,000 in legal fees). The use of non-disclosure agreements for staff member victims were the trusty weapon of choice to keep his name out of the spotlight. It was only recently that Philip Green was named as the person at the center of all of the reporting.  Although he has denied literally every allegation, the investigation(s) are ongoing.

What does that mean for the retailer? Well, after Parkwood (Beyoncé’s management and entertainment company) gained the remaining 50% of the Ivy Park brand, Topshop stores still have to follow through on the sales that have already been completed. Meaning- if you ordered something, you still get it.

Reporting has indicated the split had been going through deliberation for the better part of a year, but was recently finalized. Outside of that, Philip Green’s rep as well Ivy Park have not given us (me mostly) any details at all about the financial divorce.

Anything is possible for the athletic leisure hybrid brand now that Beyoncé is completely in control. If nothing else, Bey has gained more respect from the ride or die hive. She found a way to make lemons into lemonade (pun intended), while standing for self-love and respect.
