Everything You Need to Know About BET’s Boomerang Series
The boomerang is in full effect… yet again.
BET will be premiering Boomerang, the series!
Executive produced by Lena Waithe (The Chi) and iconic actress Halle Berry, the half-hour production is based off of the 1992 film of the same name, which featured Eddie Murphy, Robin Givens, David Alan Grier, Martin Lawrence, Grace Jones, and Chris Rock.
The game-changing flick centered around Marcus Graham (Murphy), a big time advertising executive who tends to be a voracious womanizer and a male chauvinist. However, when he stumbles across his new boss, Jacqueline Broyer (Givens), Marcus soon realizes that she is the exact female version of himself and doesn’t feel so good when the narcissistic persona he gives is reciprocated.
Picking up twenty-five years later, the modern-day-targeted sitcom will focus on the original main characters’ offspring and how they maneuver in current day corporate America. It has been described as “an updated version that explores contemporary workplace dynamics, including the changing role of gender, office politics, relationships, and the conflicts between Generation X and millennials.”
Set to premiere on February 12th, at 10/9c, Boomerang, the series, will star Tequan Richmond as Bryson (the son of Givens’ character, Jacqueline Broyer), Tetona Jackson as Simone (Murphy and Berry’s characters’, Marcus Graham and Angela Lewis, daughter), Leland Martin as Ari (a digital producer), and viral sensation Lala Milan as Tia (a stripper).
