Gladys Knight is hopping on that midnight train back to Georgia.
The fabled songstress will be singing the national anthem at this year’s Super Bowl LIII, which is set to take place right in her hometown, Atlanta.
“I hope that this anthem will touch people in a different way. We’ve been singing it forever,” the seven-time Grammy winner expressed. “But this time, I would hope that they would feel it so deeply that it would lift them to a higher place. That’s what I feel when I sing the song. This is who we are; this is how we are; and this is what we do.”
Scheduled to kick off on February 3rd at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, this will be Atlanta’s first Super Bowl since 2000 and third overall.
So far, Maroon 5, Travis Scott, and Big Boi have been announced to perform during the halftime show.
