Two-time Academy Award and Golden Globe winner, Marshershala Ali joins Sci-Fi in a new feature filmed called ‘Sovereign’ by The Quiet Place writers, Scott Beck and Bryan Woods. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Entertainment One will produce the film along with 21 Laps Entertainment’s Shawn Levy, Dan Levine and Dan Cohen.
Ali’s acting career lies way beyond just Moonlight and Greenbook. Ali has been acting professionally since 2001. The actor is currently starring in ‘True Detectives’ (third season), ‘Crossing Jordan’ (2001-2002), ‘Threat Matrix’ (2004-2007), Netflix’s superhero series Marvel’s ‘Luke Cage’ (2016) and others. His first major film release was The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008), but what really gained the fans attention was in Netflix’s political thriller ‘House of Cards‘ (2013-2019).
eOne’s President of Film Nick Meyer stated that the network had been patiently waiting until they find the right actor and here comes Ali who lands the role.
We’ll keep you posted on the film once we have more details.
