Anxiety affects 40 million people in America every year. That’s almost a fifth of the population, making anxiety the most common mental illness in the country.

Most anxiety disorders can be treated effectively, but many sufferers don’t get the care they need. Anxiety knows no boundaries, affecting rich, poor, and celebrities alike. Here are the strategies some famous people with anxiety use to cope.

  1. Whoopi Goldberg

Actress Whoopi Goldberg says she often uses vaping as a way to relieve stress. She  has even given her trusty vape pen a nickname, ‘Sippy.’

Vaping can help to concentrate the mind on breathing. That, in turn, could help you to relax. You don’t necessarily have to vape CBD oil to get this benefit. There are lots of other tempting flavors out there to vape like those listed in this blog.

  1. Donny Osmond

Donny has suffered from panic attacks and acute anxiety. His own celebrity status was the trigger for his stress. Worried his long career would come to an end; he sought treatment that includes medication to combat the symptoms of his anxiety.

A nominee for an Academy Award and two Golden Globes, Emma Stone has admitted to suffering from frequent panic attacks in the past.

This famous singer and actress is a mental health advocate. She’s been quite open about living with bipolar disorder and her battle with anxiety in the past. She says that exercise is one of the ways she deals with stress.

She also uses art therapy as a way of releasing emotions. She finds painting, writing music and meditation can all help.

  1. Lena Dunham

Funny girl Lena Dunham cites the benefits of exercise to help cope with anxiety. She has been a longtime sufferer of obsessive-compulsive disorder.

She’s quoted as saying, ‘To those struggling with anxiety, OCD, depression, I know it’s mad annoying when people tell you to exercise. It took me about sixteen medicated years to listen. I’m glad I did.’

  1. Dan Harris

The co-anchor of ABC’s Nightline program suffered a panic attack while on the air. He uses meditation to cope with his anxiety. ‘Meditation is a doable, realistic, scientifically researched way to get happier, calmer, and nicer.’ he says.
