If you’re like most of the world, you can’t get enough of celebrity gossip. Sure, a lot of us love some drama and scandal. However, a big celebrity wedding is always a favorite event to celebrate.
From lavish wedding showers and ceremonies to highly secret locations, weddings of the rich and famous have been way more than just champagne dreams and caviar wishes. Most of these high-status nuptials had a list of Hollywood Who’s Who on their guest lists.
This past year has been quite the celebrity love fest with dozens of the elite A-Listers saying I Do.
Here are a few of the most binge-worthy celebrity weddings from 2019.
Till Hollywood Do Us Part – Celebrity Weddings of 2019
Actors. Singers. Performers. Socialites.
Any and every tabloid-worthy person has the ability to interest us with their personal lives. Maybe it’s because we feel like we can live vicariously through the glitz and glamour of their lives. Maybe it’s because we put them on these unspoken pedestals that give us a break from our own realities.
Either way, us commoners from all across the world absolutely love a good love story. Especially when it evolves someone famous.
Here are the celebrity love stories that topped the tabloid charts during 2019.
Nick Jonas & Priyanka Chopra
The new Jonas’, quite possibly, had one of the biggest and most lavish wedding ceremonies, to date.
This wasn’t just a one ceremony and a one reception type event. Oh no, no…their wedded bliss spanned the entire globe. The blushing bride is from India, and her handsome groom is from America.
They tied the knot a few times. A Christian wedding, officiated by Jonas’s dad, was here in the States. A Hindu one was in India for Priyanka. There were rituals and customs; glitz and glamour. It was a perfect combination of two religions, two faiths, and a massive price tag.
However, Chopra said it perfectly when she mentioned that hopefully, you only do this once.
Joe Jonas & Sophie Turner
The other brother said I do, too.
Extravagant weddings seem to be the new Jonas brother sibling rivalry. However, this extravagance was a bit more impromptu and a bit less lavish.
After the Billboard Music Awards, the singer and Game of Thrones beauty decided they were going to the chapel of love in Vegas. Getting hitched in the city that never sleeps was just the start of this whirlwind wedding event.
Saying vows in the glittering lights of Vegas was like the wedding appetizer. The two love birds decided to commit to a more traditional wedding approach that involved their friends and family.
This wedding version 2.0, though, was done right. A beautiful and intimate ceremony took place in the south of France.
Law & Cooke Maroney
The Kardashian family was in attendance.
That should give you a pretty good idea of the vibe at this recent celebrity wedding. This wedding, though, wasn’t doused in extravagance. Instead, J. Law and her dashing groom opted for a laid back, relaxed event to say their vows.
A clambake for the rehearsal dinner. A Versailles hunting lodge replica for the wedding venue. A food truck serving up some delicious burgers for post-reception partying.
It proved to be the ultimate and perfect Jennifer Lawrence wedding. It was focused on fun, family, and friends.
The Rock & Lauren Hashian
A secret Hawaiian wedding.
That’s the way celebrities do. However, Dwayne The Rock Johnson and his longtime lady love didn’t pull out all the lavish stops for this simple ceremony.
Surrounded only by their closest friends and family, these two were able to have an intimate island wedding. Resembling more of an amazing beach BBQ on the shores of the island state, guests wore Hawaiian shirts, flip flops, and leis. They feasted on pancakes, grilled cheese, and a rainbow cake.
This was a perfect ceremony of privacy.
Chris Pratt & Katherine Schwarzenegger
Celebrities don’t like to waste time on long engagements.
After a heartbreaking divorce from actress Anna Farris in 2018, Pratt didn’t waste any time finding love. Getting engaged after a few short months of dating shows this relationship is an example of when you know, you just know.
The event was quaint yet gorgeous in the coastal city of Montecito, California. The guest list consisted of close friends and family. The menu was light and summery, but made a strong use of local foods from the surrounding area.
Celebrities may have infinite financial means. However, when it comes to saying I do, many appreciate enjoying the moment to themselves.
Ellie Goulding & Caspar Jopling
God save the Queen…a seat at this celebrity wedding.
Ellie and her longtime beau tied the knot across the pond in North Yorkshire, England. In what appears to be a very traditional, almost royal looking, event – the two longtime loves exchanged vows at the York Minster Cathedral.
What tends to separate celebrity weddings from our commoner weddings is not always lavish decorations and expensive extras. Sometimes the wardrobe is the wow factor.
Experiencing three wardrobe changes throughout the reception, the new Mrs. Jopling changed from her Victorian-era inspired gown to a handful of designer threads. A stunning off-the-should Stella McCartney gown made the first appearance, followed by two other white, gorgeous dresses.
The guest list included both Hollywood A-Listers, as well as British royalty. This wedding was truly an affair fit for the Queen.
Heidi Klum & Tom Kaulitz
The best celebrity weddings happen in some of the most gorgeous places on the planet.
This was no exception for Heidi Klum’s marriage to Tokio Hotel musician, Tom Kaulitz in Capri, Italy. Setting sail for their vow exchange aboard the luxury yacht, Christina O, they had the ultimate waterfront wedding in the middle of the Tyrrhenian Seas.
Although there is not a ton of room for a lengthy guest list when sailing around the Italian coast, the list was jam-packed with celebrity friends and family.
Katherine McPhee & David Foster
Another wedding held across the pond.
Although these two share almost three decades between them in age, their wedding was a timeless fairy tale.
They exchanged their vows in an impressive English cathedral. Then, they danced the night away with friends and family. Again, this wedding didn’t focus on the celebrity inspired ornate and high-status ceremony and reception. These celebrities flexed their financial muscles with McPhee’s multiple wardrobe changes.
Starting the day in a custom Zac Posen gown, she said I do. Moving into an off-the-shoulder Zac Posen gown for the reception entrance was her next fashion switch up. Then, to cut the cake she changed one last time to a shorter, blue Zac Posen gown.
Flowers are great and centerpieces are amazing, but a true celebrity wedding is marked by their high-end fashion.
Gina Rodriguez & Joe LoCicero
Jane’s definitely not a virgin anymore.
Marrying her longtime love in a backyard ceremony, their wedding was both whimsical and magical. There were few frills and fancies, but there was a lot of intimate time spent with friends and family.
Exchanging their vows among the trees and impressive array of flowers, their wedding was simple, elegant, and planned to perfection.
The wedding decor didn’t tap the budget. However, the custom wedding and reception dresses, as well as her gorgeous diamond earrings, were showstoppers.
Sometimes it’s the small details that make the best celebrity weddings.
Idris Elba & Sabrina Dhowre
A beautiful wedding between two beautiful people lit up the Dark Continent.
These two star-crossed lovers brought both parts of their African continent and their heritage together in a three-day Marrakesh festival of love. Both families embraced every aspect of their culture. They included personal customs and traditions in both the wedding ceremony and the reception.
The wedding was ornate. The reception was filled with incredible live music. Over 200 of their nearest and dearest danced the night away. Every part of their wedding festivities was themed, perfectly planned, and an experience that will not soon be forgotten.
Marc Jacobs & Char Defrancesco
This designer has said I do. And, of course, it was a lavish affair at the design epicenter of the world – New York City.
Anyone who’s anyone was in attendance, celebrities and royalty included. The guest list was impressive. The fashion forwardness was both expected and extravagant. The night was filled with timeless elegance and incredible attention to detail.
There were swag bags. There were games and events within the reception. There was an iconic DJ spinning perfect party tunes. Some of the greatest designers in the world sipped cocktails and danced for hours with some of the greatest members of Hollywood’s elite.
This was truly one of the weddings of the year.
Not sure if Marc Jacobs finally put a Rockher ring on it, but the entire wedding event with Char was filled with love, friendship, fun, and of course, fashion.
Festive, Fun, and Celebrity-Filled Memories
Celebrity weddings set the stage for our own wedded visions.
We see them in magazines. We hear about them on TV. We envy the ornate decorations, the gorgeous locations, and the amazing guest lists.
At the end of the ceremony and the end of the reception, though, these celebrities are just lucky in love. These are just people, like you and me, that are excited to say I do to someone that makes them feel like the most important person in the world.
Glitz. Glamour. Luxury. No Expense Spared. These things seem to come standard with a celebrity wedding.
However, beneath the gorgeous attention to details, there are two people that are excited to spend eternity together. For better or worse; for rich or for poor; in sickness and in health; until death or the tabloids do them part.
Which of the Celebrity Weddings of 2019 was most memorable for you???
