Imagine a world where you get a new album from Eminem and a new album from Lil Wayne in the same month to start the year. Well, that’s what happened in January 2020.  Just a week ago Lil Wayne announced that he would be releasing a new project, the follow-up to his Tha Carter V album. The Lil Wayne Funeral album will be released at midnight.

Tha Carter V was released on September 28th, after many delays. Wayne had to finally get out of his contract with Cash Money Records before he could finally release the project on his own.  There were many reasons why Birdman refused to release the project initially, but ultimately, Wayne decided he was better off on his own without the label home.

He is still signed to Universal Records however, the Cash Money parent company.

Lil Wayne released a teaser for the album on Instagram in the days ahead of the release.

The album contains 24 new tracks and includes features from Big Sean, Lil Baby, The Dream, 2 Chainz and O.T. Genesis among others.
