The tragic, untimely death of DMX has helped fans revisit the classic Def Jam albums released by the rapper.  The historic label has announced that they are teaming up with the late rapper’s estate to release a new DMX album this May.  The album will be titled, Exodus.  The DMX Exodus album will be released on May 28th.

Exodus will be the first album from DMX on Def Jam Recordings since his 2003 album release, Grand Champ.  It will be his 9th solo album over all.

Swizz Beatz – executive producer and producer of EXODUS – issued the following statement: “My brother X was one of the most pure and rare souls I’ve ever met. He lived his life dedicated to his family and music. Most of all, he was generous with his giving and loved his fans beyond measure. This album, X couldn’t wait for his fans all around the world to hear and show just how much he valued each and every single person that has supported him unconditionally.”

Above is the official album artwork, created by legendary Hip-Hop photographer Jonathan Mannion, who was responsible for a lot of early DMX images.

Exodus will be the late rapper’s first posthumous album, and it will feature all new music.
